Welcome back to the Bookshare Book Club! Each month, Bookshare staff will choose a book for members to read before hosting a discussion near the end of the month. The conversation will take place through a Zoom webinar. While we have created this club with adult Bookshare members in mind, everyone is welcome to join, including non-Bookshare members.
November’s book will be Matrix by Lauren Groff. After Marie de France is cast out of Eleanor of Aquitaine’s court, she trades in a life of refinement and royalty for one of impoverishment and nuns. As prioress of the abbey that is now her home, Marie quickly devotes herself to protecting the women under her care while building a strong reputation. Spanning decades, Matrix is an examination of feminism and power in the 12th century.
The Zoom webinar discussion for Matrix will take place on Thursday, December 2, at 5:00 pm PT. Register here. This session is the last book club meeting for 2021.
