Welcome back to the Bookshare Book Club! Each month, Bookshare staff will choose a book for members to read before hosting a discussion near the end of the month. The conversation will take place through a Zoom webinar. While we have created this club with adult Bookshare members in mind, everyone is welcome to join, including non-Bookshare members.
February’s book will be Harlem Shuffle by Colson Whitehead. Ray Carney and his wife are about to have their second child, and selling furniture isn’t going to keep paying all the bills. Ray’s cousin Freddie hands off a piece of jewelry every now and then, and Ray quietly fences it as a side hustle. When Freddie volunteers him to help out with a heist, things quickly go awry, and Ray is pulled into working for less than reputable clients, all while trying to keep his regular life afloat. From Pulitzer Prize-winner Colson Whitehead, Harlem Shuffle is a compelling and delectable ode to Harlem.
