Welcome again to the Bookshare Book Club! Each month Bookshare staff will choose a book for members to read before hosting a discussion on the last Friday of the month. The conversation will take place on Bookshare Twitter, using the hashtag #BKSBookClub. While we have created this club with adult Bookshare members in mind, everyone is welcome to join, including non-Bookshare members.
April’s book is Severance by Ling Ma. Part zombie apocalypse, part office culture, and part coming-of-age novel, Severance follows second-generation, Chinese American, Candace Chen, a disillusioned, millennial office worker in New York. One of the few survivors of Shen Fever, Candace photographs the city as it decays and eventually joins a group to escape to safety. Along the way, Candace must confront her identity as she decides how to live in the apocalypse.
Our discussion for Severance will take place on Friday, April 26th at 12:00 pm PT on the Bookshare Twitter account. Be sure to tune in for a lively conversation, as well as the announcement of our May book. Here’s what participating members had to say about March’s book club discussion:
Thanks to #BKSBookclub, my husband @Darrell & I just had a deep debate over how far we’d hypathetically go to defend our kids. We don’t have siblings so… LOL. Fascenating stuff! @Bookshare
