This summer, the Bookshare community came together virtually to share in the joy of reading through Bookshare’s Summer Read-a-thon.
Our goal was to read 200,000 ebooks as a community and to promote fun summer reading. The Bookshare community came through, reading 229,412 books in just over 2 months!
Bookshare members of all ages participated by reading books from Bookshare’s handpicked summer reading lists, joining in on Book Club discussions, having families take the Summer Read-a-thon Pledge, and celebrating with the community on social media.
Here are a few of our favorite Bookshare shout-outs during the Summer Read-a-thon:
Got my son’s @Bookshare account activated last Friday, and he’s already read the first in @Sayantani16 ‘s The Serpent’s Secret series, and the last in @TraceyBaptiste ‘s Jumbies series (he read the first two… verrrry slowly).

Bookshare is a game changer for him! #AllInTogether
I’ve been a member of @Bookshare for a couple of years now, but haven’t downloaded many books until recently. I’m amazed how many books they have that I’m actually interested in reading during the lockdown.

Summer Reading with @Bookshare. My 4YO daughter has been listening to Fancy Nancy books from Bookshare using her Victor Stream. They have the largest accessible collection of these books that I’ve found so far. Her fave is the Mermaid Ballet. #AllInTogether

Bookshare thanks the community of readers for sharing in the common bond of reading this summer. As we look to the fall and the uncertain future ahead, Bookshare’s commitment to delivering books to people with reading barriers is stronger than ever.
