News about Bookshare: an ebook library for people with reading barriers
In recognition of Dyslexia Awareness Month, we look back at two extraordinary Bookshare members who share their perspectives on living – and thriving – with dyslexia, a language-based learning disorder that causes difficulty with reading. Plus, we shine a light on a treasure trove of books featuring characters with learning disabilities to foster inclusion and empathy and engage young readers.

4 CommentsElla, a high school junior with dyslexia, teams up with special educators to get the most effective accommodations for reading including Bookshare and other digital tools. “Reading with your ears or any sort of accommodation is still reading and it counts,” explains Ella. “Any way you can access a book is worthwhile. I love to read! Once you find the tools that work for you, it’s so much easier.”
